Woe and Behold

I lifted this from http://www.**gh.moe.edu.sg/programmes/ip/index.shtml. It's the same school whose operations manager rescued a vulture and had the good deed receive front page coverage in the Straits Times. Wow! There're even TWO pictures of the vulture on the homepage! Double wow!!

RATIONALE

As a premier girls' school, **GH seeks to offer an alternative educational track to the O-Levels. By freeing time [less work = more time = more work = less time, therefore: less is more is less. lppl.] for pupils who are clearly university bound for the university [university very important so must mention twice. also, got guarantee one. if cannot make it to the uni maybe can refund school fees.], the IP allows this category [what do you mean by "this category" when there is only one category?] of students to skip the O-level examinations so that they have a greater opportunity [ah, now they say it's only "got chance", not confirmed one.] for other activities e.g. research , enrichment activities. [i.e. academic pursuits. come on, why not say learn a sport, or spend time with family. hey, i'm just helping mcys propagandise ok.]

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

To provide a more challenging curriculum for higher ability pupils; [alamak, then what about the lower ability ones? oh, they're not supposed to be in **gh in the 1st place. too bad **ps, no more affiliation for you. talk about **三校本一家...]

To set a strong foundation for student success at the “A” levels; [ok people, this is the holy grail. it ain't everything. it's the only thing.]

To produce reflective, responsive and responsible learners: pupils who are critical and creative thinkers who will respond with empathy to the world around them and seek to play anactive role in making it a better place. [what a long statement. sounds like an afterthought to me. and totally nonsensical. i don't see how being in the ip can fill you with empathy. ridiculous...].
